Dr. Christopher Burke graduated from the Stony Brook Psychiatry residency program in 2002, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Following his fellowship, he was recruited as Chief of Consultation Psychiatry at Stony Brook University Hospital (2003–2008), then served as Director of the Consultation Psychiatry service and C-L Fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center of Northwell Health through 2019. He is board certified in both Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Burke has won numerous teaching awards, including Teacher of the Year on four occasions, and received the President's Award for Innovation from Northwell Health in 2016 for creating a Medical/Psychiatry unit. His scholarly work includes publications and national presentations on catatonia and innovation in medical-psychiatry units in the general hospital.
He currently works at Stony Brook Hospital on the Consultation Psychiatry service and maintains a small private practice treating victims of 9/11 and the World Trade Center.
Dr. Burke received his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
